What's ThermoRewrite ?
ThermoRewrite is a rewritable thermal recording material that uses the reaction between Leuco dye and a specially designed developer to print an image. Using this technology, the visual information can be renewed more than 500 times providing great convenience and flexibility for many applications. The mechanism of ThermoRewrite to develop and erase an image is reversible and is controlled by the way of applying heat.

Advantages
The major features of ThermoRewrite are listed as follow.

High-contrast
Unlike other rewritable systems, e.g. transparent-opaque type, a printed image of ThermoRewrite has superior recognizablility ( readability). The high-contrast image produced with ThermoRewrite is exceptionally important, especially where visual restrictions or poor eyesight is a factor.

High resolution
Due to its high resolution image, ThermoRewrite is good for not only text printing but also image printing. This feature is a big advantage when printing text with small characters and showing rich visual information.

Amazing durability
Toughness is also a big advantage of ThermoRewrite. Recycling cards more than 500 times allows for economical application with reduced environmental concerns.

Variety in colors
Color capabilities now include blue , black, and red. Two-color ThermoRewrite ( blue and red, blue and black) is also under development.

Flexibility in card design
Since ThermoRewrite is a transparent material, it will not affect the card design even if it covers the whole surface of the card. This feature can not be expected in other rewritable material such as transparent-opaque types.

Barcode capability
ThermoRewrite is based on the same technology as thermosensitive labeling that is used for barcode applications world wide. This capability widens the range of its applications to include tags and labels.

Flexible material design
Due to extensive R&D efforts, only Mitsubishi can offer the widest range of products applicable to the various hardware and applications.

Flexibility in thickness and width of film
ThermoRewrite can also be provided as wide format film product. This feature is useful for applications like thermosensitive displays and information boards
