An example of how this works can be seen at an electric appliance factory. A this magnetic PET card is used to monitor each step of the assembly line. A bar code is printed on the card at the start of the line identifying the product being built. At each point along the assembly line, worker scans the card so that the system can monitor the progress of the product and the status of the assembly line at the same time. Utilizing this technology could help reduce inventory and productions costs and make assembly line workflows more efficient.
