Public transportation system is one of the biggest potential market for
rewritable card. In fact, on November 18th,2001 Japan began a large rewritable
card project for commuter passes in the Tokyo metropolitan area. A contactless
IC card system with rewritable printing will be utilized ,allowing the
valid date of the pass and the commuters name to be printed at the point
of issue and then rewritten each time the term is extended.
This kind of card system is going to be expanded into Bus, Subway and
other public transportation applications.
